Biography

The Danish soprano Clara Cecilie Thomsen was born in 1991, She started singing when she was only 9 years old in The Copehnhagen girls' choir. She has a bachelor's degree from The Royal Danish Academy of Music and is currently studying at the Opera Academy in Copenhagen with mainteacher Susanna Eken.

Clara has already marked herself as an exciting young singer. During June-July 2016 she was a part of Résidence Mozart in cooperation with Susanna Eken and Festival d'Art Lyrique d'Aix en Provence, The Académie du Festival d'Aix is one of the key places for cultivating Mozartian interpretation. Clara made her debut at the Royal Danish Opera House in 2017 as Barbarina in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. And she has also been a soloist in several oratorios such as the St Matthew Passion by Bach, Mozarts Requiem and in Händel's Messiah. In November 2017 she made her debut as Soloist In C. Nielsen's 3 Symphony, Espansiva Tonkunstler Orchestra & Michael Schønwandt at Musikverein in Vienna. During 2018 Clara will be singing the role of Alcina in Händel's opera by the same name at the Royal Danish Opera House. Clara graduates from The Opera Academy summer 2018.

Clara has worked with several conductors and stage directors: Andreas Spering, Michael Schønwandt, Giordano Bellincampi, Michael Boder, Robert Houssart, Elisa Kragerup, Enrico De Feo, Jacopo Spirei, Leah Hausman, Christian von Götz, Ashley Dean among others.
