Sensational young soprano Ekaterina Bakanova has made a significant mark in international music life with her lovely voice, enticing looks and wonderful performance. She has ever since her early student days in Russia shown that she possesses that little extra which makes organisers and opera houses sit up and take notice.
In 2015 she made her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Musetta, staged by John Copley. Because of a sudden cancellation she also debuted as Violetta LA TRAVIATA,(staging Richard Eyre) with great succes. The Guardian wrote: ONE HELL OF A WAY TO MAKE A DEBUT
“Bakanova brought a no doubt partly adrenaline-fuelled dramatic intensity to the part and embodied the desperation, dramatic extremity, and existential plight of Violetta more completely than any other performance I have seen. […]
She had the audience spellbound from pretty well from her first notes, and her scintillating vocal power in the big numbers such as “Sempre Libera” brought the house down. […]
Recent engagements include appearances in highly prestigious venues like Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, Leipzig, Torre del Lago, La Fenice, Venice, Teatro Regio, Turin, Opéra de Montpéllier, Teatro Comunale, Florence, NCPA Bejing and Arena di Verona.
