Emil Eliasson

Biography

Still in his twenties, Swedish conductor Emil Eliasson is in the midst of a breakthrough that has seen him work with some of the most respected musicians of our time and conduct major ensembles throughout the Nordic region.

Emil enjoys ongoing relationships with the Royal Swedish Opera, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norrköping, Helsingborg and Gävle Symphony Orchestras, the Nordic Chamber Orchestra, Dalasinfoniettan, the orchestras of Norrlandsoperan and Wermlandsoperan and the Royal Swedish Navy Band. In 2017 he conducted the televised closing concert of the Copenhagen Opera Festival.

Emil is an experienced opera conductor. He worked on the conducting staff for the Royal Swedish Opera’s productions of Strauss’s Elektra, Salome, Der Rosenkavalier and Wagner’s Die Walküre. As Assistant Conductor at NorrlandsOperan he worked on productions of Carmen and Elektra under Music Director Rumon Gamba. He will soon assist Simone Young at the Zurich Opera’s production of Elektra. Emil has also assisted Simone Young at Die Frau ohne Schatten at Staatsoper Berlin. Emil has conducted performances at Läckö Court Opera (Falstaff), Wermland Opera (The Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro, Fidelio) and University College Opera, Stockholm (La Voix Humaine, Eugene Onegin).

Emil studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with B. Tommy Andersson, Glenn Mossop and Daniel Harding, assisting the latter at the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has conducted the College’s orchestra in concert and in the world premiere of Joel Engström’s opera MaydayPayday at the Folkoperan in Stockholm. He has participated in master-classes with Herbert Blomstedt and was awarded the National Scholarship of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music for three consecutive years. In the autumn of 2015, Emil received the Crusell Scholarship, awarded to a promising Swedish conductor every two years. He signed to Nordic Artists Management in 2019.
