Ivi Karnezi

Greek/Norwegian soprano Ivi Karnezi is a versatile operatic artist with a repertoire ranging from Handel to Schoenberg and beyond. She has worked with some of the opera world’s leading directors and conductors and participated in a number of world premiere productions, creating roles from scratch.
Ivi studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. In 2010 she joined the Studio of the Opéra National de Lyon where her roles included The Friend in Schoenberg’s Von Heute auf Morgen, Second Flower Maiden in Wagner’s Parsifal and A Maiden in Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis. She made her debut at the Immling Opera Festival in Germany as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and has also participated in the Berlin Staatsoper’s Infektion festival.
For the 2017-19 seasons Ivi is contracted as a member of the soloist ensemble at the Staatstheater Braunschweig. Her roles there have included Élisabetta in Verdi's Don Carlo, Vitellia in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, Overseer in Strauss' Elektra, Luisia in Shostakovich’s Cheryomushki. She will do her debut here as well, as Mimi in La Boheme and as Hanna Glawari in Die Lustige Witwe.
Ivi has performed under conductors including Kazushi Ono, Gaetano D’Espinosa, Bernhard Kontarsky and Jean-Michaël Lavoie among others. She has worked with stage directors including John Fulljames, Francois Girard and Ben Baur.
She signed to Nordic Artists Management in 2018.
