"Morten Frank Larsen, in his Met-debut, was wonderful as Count in Capriccio". These were the words in The New York Times after Morten Frank Larsen's debut at the Metropolitan Opera, New York.
After completing his studies in Aarhus and the Opera Academy in Copenhagen, Morten Frank Larsen made his operatic debut at Aarhus Sommeropera in Britten's RAPE OF LUCRETIA. His debut abroad was as DON GIOVANNI in Germany in 1995. From 1997-2000 he was a member of the soloist ensemble at the Braunschweig opera. He was then engaged as soloist with the Wiener Volksoper ensemble. He has simultaneously guested Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Frankfurt Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich, Royal Opera Copenhagen, Teatro Comunale, Bologna, Teatro Massimo, Palermo and the opera houses in Zurich, Sevilla, Toulouse, Salzburg and Tokyo.
His repertoire comprises more than 100 opera roles, including DON GIOVANNI, FIGARO/Count Almaviva, EUGEN ONEGIN, DON CARLOS/Posa, LA TRAVIATA/Germont, IL TROVATORE/Count Luna, SALOME/Jochanaan, CAPRICCIO/The Count, PELLEAS, MERRY WIDOW/Count Danilo, RAPE OF LUCRETIA/Nick Shadow, LA BOHEME/Marcello, TOSCA/Scarpia, Wolfram, Kurwenal, Gunther.

Morten Frank Larsen has worked with conductors like Kristjan Järvi, Adam Fishcer, Stefan Soltesz, Daniele Gatti, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Marc Soustrot, Franz Welser-Möst, Michael Schönwandt and Philippe Herreweghe.

DVD's of ARABELLA and CAPRICCIO where he sings with Renée Fleming are released on the
Decca label. Other recordings include Schumann: GENOVEVA, Poul Schierbeck: FÊTE GALANTE and QUEEN DAGMAR.

Morten Frank Larsen is a committed Lied interpreter and performer and has received the Axel Schiötz Prize in 2002. Recipient of the Franco Prize in 1999 and the Eberhard Wächter medal at the Vienna State Opera in 2003.

Sådan var ordene i "The New York Times" efter Mortens debut på den verdensberømte Metropolitan Opera i New York, hvor han i marts 2011 stod på scenen efter et særligt ønske fra den berømte amerikanske sopran Renée Fleming.
Efter studier på konservatoriet i Aarhus og Operaakademiet i København debuterede Morten Frank Larsen i 1994 på Aarhus Sommeropera i Brittens "The Rape of Lucretia".
Udlandsdebut´en fulgte i 1995 som Mozarts Don Juan i Tyskland. 1997 fast engageret på operaen i Braunschweig, hvorefter han i 2000 forlagde residensen til Wien med fastansættelse på Volksoper. Fra 2003 også regelmæssige optrædender på Wiener Staatsoper sidelöbende med talrige gæstekontrakter, bl.a. på Deutsche Oper Berlin, Frankfurt Operaen, Bayerische Staatsoper München, Det kgl. Teater, Teatro Comunale Bologna, Teatro Massimo i Palermo og på operaerne i Zürich, Sevilla, Toulouse, Salzburg og Tokyo.
Hans repertoire tæller ca. 100 forskellige opera-roller, bl.a. Don Juan, Grev Almaviva, Eugen Onegin, Posa, Germont, Luna, Mandryka, Jochanaan, Capriccio-greven, Pelleas, Golaud, Grev Danilo, Eisenstein, Nick Shadow, Wolfram, Kurvenal, Gunther, Marcello, Scarpia.
Desuden stor koncertvirksomhed i Europa (samt Asien og Sydamerika) i samarbejde med bl.a. Ulf Schirmer, Franz Welser-Möst, Michael Schönwandt, Kristjan Järvi, Adam Fischer, Stefan Soltesz, Philippe Herreweghe, Daniele Gatti og Rafael Frübeck de Burgos.

Både "Arabella" fra Zürich og "Capriccio" fra The Met foreligger på DVD (Decca) med Renée Fleming og Morten Frank Larsen.
Han medvirker desuden på flere CD-indspilninger bl.a. Schumanns "Genoveva" med Anette Dasch og Schierbecks "Fête Galante" og "Dronning Dagmar".

MFL behersker endvidere et stort og varieret Liedrepertoire og modtog for sin indsats som Liedfortolker Axel Schiötz-prisen i 2002. Modtager af Franco-prisen 1999 samt Eberhard Wächtermedaljen på Wiener Staatsoper 2003.
